Arctic Armor™ Liquid De-Icer – 5 Gallon, Large Property & HOA Coverage
One jug. Five thousand square feet. All winter. The Arctic Armor™ 5-Gallon is built for property owners who can't afford gaps in coverage — large driveways, multi-car properties, HOA common areas, and light commercial use. One application protects up to 5,000 sq ft for 48 hours, and at this size you're stocked for the entire season.
Built for larger properties
If you're managing more than a standard suburban driveway — a long rural driveway, a multi-unit property, an HOA parking area, or a commercial walkway — the 5-gallon eliminates the need to reorder mid-season. One or two jugs covers most large properties all winter long.
Why large property owners choose liquid de-icer over rock salt
At scale, rock salt costs compound fast — corrosion damage, landscaping replacement, surface repairs. Arctic Armor™ is 55% less corrosive than rock salt, safe for all surfaces and vegetation, and requires less product per square foot than granular salt. Less waste, less damage, less labor.

- No mixing required: pour directly into any standard pump or backpack sprayer and apply
How to apply Arctic Armor™ liquid de-icer
- Pour — fill any standard pump or backpack sprayer with Arctic Armor™. No dilution needed. A 5-gallon jug fills a 2-gallon sprayer twice with product remaining for additional applications.
- Spray — apply a light, even coat across your driveway, walkways, steps, and parking areas 6–12 hours before a storm. Set the nozzle to wide fan for maximum efficiency on large areas.
- Protect — let it dry to an invisible barrier. Reapply after 48 hours or after heavy accumulation of 2 or more inches has been removed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first application.
Yes — wet or damp pavement is actually ideal. The moisture helps the formula spread evenly and bond to the surface. Just avoid applying during active heavy rain, since it can wash the product away before it has a chance to set (about 30–60 minutes).
6–12 hours before the storm is the sweet spot. This gives Arctic Armor™ enough time to dry and form its protective barrier before snow or ice arrives. Applying the evening before an overnight storm works perfectly.
Yes. Arctic Armor™ uses a non-toxic formula with no harsh chlorides that irritate paws or get tracked into your home. It's significantly gentler than rock salt, which is a common cause of paw irritation and chemical burns in winter.
Light rain shortly after application won't significantly reduce effectiveness — the formula bonds to the surface quickly. However, heavy or prolonged rain several hours before a freeze can dilute the barrier. If significant rain occurs, we recommend reapplying once the rain stops, if time allows before the temperature drops.
Yes — when applied proactively before a freeze, Arctic Armor™ prevents black ice from forming in the first place by stopping ice from bonding to the surface. If black ice has already formed, applying Arctic Armor™ will break the bond and accelerate melting, though a light scrape may still help on thicker ice.
Liquid calcium chloride is effective in extreme cold but is highly corrosive to concrete, metal, and vegetation, and can irritate pets' paws. Arctic Armor™ is formulated to deliver similar cold-weather performance (down to -25°F) while being 55% less corrosive and safe for pets, plants, and surfaces.
Yes. The 5-gallon is the recommended size for HOA common areas, parking lots, and light commercial walkways. At 4,000 sq ft per jug it covers large areas efficiently and reduces per-application cost.
For a standard large residential property (1,500–2,000 sq ft), one 5-gallon jug typically covers 2–3 full storm seasons worth of pre-treatment applications.
