Arctic Armor™ — How It Works

Stop Ice Before It Starts.

Most de-icers react after ice forms. Arctic Armor works before the storm, creating a molecular barrier that stops ice from ever bonding to your driveway, walkways, or steps.

The science

Why liquid works better than granular

Rock salt sits on top of ice and tries to melt it from above. Arctic Armor™ bonds directly to the surface and prevents ice from forming in the first place.

Left: man applying Arctic Armor liquid de-icer to driveway with pump sprayer. Right: salt-damaged concrete with pitting and rock salt residue.

Rock salt — reactive melting

Rock salt lowers the freezing point of water already on the surface. It only works after ice has formed, accelerates freeze-thaw damage to concrete, and leaves behind residue that harms pets, plants, and floors.

Application guide

Three steps. Fifteen minutes. All winter protection.

Step 1
Step 1
Fill your sprayer
Evening before the storm

Pour Arctic Armor™ directly into any standard pump sprayer. No mixing, no dilution — it's ready to use straight from the jug. A 2-gallon sprayer holds two full applications for a standard driveway.

Pro tip: Apply 6–12 hours before the storm for maximum barrier strength. The evening before an overnight storm is the perfect time.
Step 2
Step 2
Apply a light, even coat
Takes 15 minutes

Set your nozzle to a wide fan spray. Walk your driveway, walkways, steps, and patio in overlapping passes — like mowing a lawn. You want a light visible wet coat, not soaking. One gallon covers 1,000 sq ft.

Coverage guide: Standard two-car driveway is 400–600 sq ft. Add walkways and steps and you're around 800–1,000 sq ft. Most homeowners use the full gallon in one pass.
Step 3
Step 3
Let it dry — you're protected
Wake up to a clear driveway

Arctic Armor™ dries to a clear invisible barrier in 30–60 minutes. When the storm hits, ice and snow cannot bond to the treated surface. Shovel or plow if needed — everything clears in a fraction of the time.

Reapplication: Protection lasts up to 48 hours. Reapply before the next storm or after heavy accumulation (2+ inches) has been removed.

Works when other de-icers quit.

Rock salt stops working below 15°F — exactly when you need protection most. Arctic Armor™ remains effective all the way down to -25°F, making it the only choice for serious winter climates.
